BEST GOES STRAIGHT TO THE TOP OF THE CLASS AT TAKAPOTO

Kim Best and LT Holst Teachers Pet went to Takapoto Estate Showjumping with one goal, and one goal only....and boy did they hit their target.

The Takapoto way is slightly different to other shows in New Zealand, whereby the qualifiers for the age class finals are all judged on style, with the top 20 making it through. Kim and Marge gained a very respectable score and so qualified for the final of the 6 Year Olds.

In the final, the slates were wiped clean and the field was open to all in a standard A5 Call Back Jump Off competition. Kim gave Marge a beautiful ride in the first round which saw them through to the jump off, where they blew away the other 8 combinations to take home top honours.

Such a well deserved win for Kim who has been extremely consistent and often in the placings with Marge.

In other exciting news, Kim and Marge currently sit at the top of the leaderboard in the Mitavite Speedi-Beet 6 year Old Breeders Series, and with only Horse of the Year and Glistening Waters Series Final left, we wish them the very best of luck!
BROOKE & ANDREA GO FOR GOLD

Brooke had a sensational couple of weeks at Takapoto Estate Showjumping; a boutique show with world class facilities and mind-blowing scenery, it is amazing to have a show of this calibre in New Zealand.

The first week saw Brook & Andrea easily qualifying for the Gold Tour final, placing 8th in the first qualifier. The weather gods did not play ball and decided that Takapoto Show was the perfect time to end the drought and the floodgates sure did open! Brooke guided Andrea round for a beautiful clear in the first round, and an unlucky rail in the jump off kept them out of the top placings, but 2 superb round nonetheless in tough conditions.

The final was held on the large sand arena due to the rain leaving the beautiful grass ring unjumpabl - the going was good and Brooke once again rode a lovely clear first round, taking them through to the jump off.
With 10 combinations through to the jump off, it was a speedy affair and Brooke and Andrea cruised around to pick up 4th place. A fantastic effort against some top horses and riders.

Week 2 brought much better weather, the sun shone from start to finish and the grounds were glorious. Brooke and Andrea were on fine form once again. In the Gold Tour Qualifier, they picked up 3rd place, easily qualifying them for the final.

In the final, Brooke and Andrea really shone through, they jumped 2 spectacular rounds around a tough track that really took some jumping. Their efforts were good enough for 3rd place, an amazing feat against a tough field from both NZ and Australia. Well done to the speedy young gun Annabel Francis for winning the class.
